Gill, Nichtberger Appointed to Board of BioAdvance
John M. Gill and Steven Nichtberger M.D. have been named to the Board of Directors of Philadelphia-based BioAdvance. Gill is co-founder, president and CEO of Tetralogic Pharmaceuticals, a Malvern, Pa.-based firm focused on new drugs to treat cancer by modulating the apoptosis (programmed cell death) pathway. Previously he held senior management positions in operations and finance with SmithKline Beecham Corporation and 3 Dimensional Pharmaceuticals. He also served as a founding member and partner in SR One, Limited, SmithKline Beecham’s life sciences venture capital fund. Dr. Nichtberger is president and CEO of Tengion, the suburban Philadelphia firm focused on regenerative medicine and the use of a patient’s own cells to develop new organs and tissues. Tengion recently initiated the third Phase 2 clinical trial of its Neo-BladderTM, the company’s first investigational product. Dr. Nichtberger is a former senior executive at Merck where he was responsible for leadership of global marketing and new product planning and was a core participant in many corporate licensing, divestiture and product acquisition deals. Dr. Nichtberger is a board certified internist and cardiologist.
Kelly Joins Board of Eyeblaster
New York-based Eyeblaster has appointed Michael J. Kelly to Chairman of the Board. Kelly is the former president of AOL Media Networks, where he oversaw AOl’s global advertising business. Prior to joining AOL, Kelly was President, Global Marketing at Time Warner, where he oversaw the company's Global Marketing group. He held senior positions at Fortune magazine and was the Publisher of Entertainment Weekly. Mr. Kelly was also the founder and CEO of American Town Network (ATN), an interactive media company that creates local social networks in thousands of towns. Kelly has served on the boards of the American Advertising Federation, The Advertising Council and Professionals in Advertising (PAC). He is also a founder of The Kelly Gang, a 501c3 organization that benefits grass roots charities. He is a Chicago native and graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.A in Political Science. Eyeblaster provides integrated digital marketing services and technology. Gal Trifon is co-founder and chief executive officer of Eyeblaster.
AerovectRx Appoints Johnston to Its Board
David Johnston, Ph.D. has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Norcross, Ga.-based AerovectRx Corporation. Dr. Johnston was most recently senior vice president of research and development for Nektar Therapeutics where his responsibilities included planning and operations for drug delivery, including inhalation technologies, clinical development, regulatory affairs and safety, quality control and assurance for clinical supplies, and product and device development. Prior to Nektar, he was Chief Development Officer and Vice President Operations for Control Delivery Systems where he oversaw co-development of the Retisert™ product, marketed by Bausch and Lomb for the treatment of uveitis. He has previously held executive leadership positions with AAI International and Oread, Inc., both Contract Research Organizations providing product development and support services for pharmaceuticals, biologics and medical devices. Dr. Johnston earned his bachelor’s and doctorate degrees in chemistry from St. Andrews University (Scotland) and completed postdoctoral training at the Max Planck Institute (Heidelberg, Germany). He began his pharmaceutical career with Sterling-Winthrop where he held positions of increasing responsibility in discovery and preclinical and clinical development.

AerovectRx is a spin out from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”). The company’s AeroCell™ uses ultrasonic vibrating mesh technology integrated with a unit dose medication cartridge as a disposable-consumable to deliver complex biologics and vaccines as well as small molecule drugs to the respiratory tract. These features eliminate maintenance, reduce risk of patient re-infection, and improve dosage control. Ed Cannon serves as Chief Executive Officer.
