Tewell Joins BioEnergy as CFO
Chris Tewell has joined Quincy, Mass.-based BioEnergy International LLC as Chief Financial Officer. For much of his career, Tewell has been involved in the finance and operation of transportation assets and the development of energy and infrastructure projects. From 1999 to 2006, Tewell was with GATX, where he was responsible for its Great Lakes shipping company, American Steamship. From 1996 to 1998, Tewell was President and CEO of Triton Container International, the largest container lessor in the world. Before Triton, Tewell was with GE Capital, where he started project finance for Asia and was Acting President of GE Capital Asia Pacific. He also has worked at various financial institutions in leasing and project finance. BioEnergy utilizes proprietary technology to advance the development of low-cost cellulosic sugars for the sustainable production of high-value specialty chemicals and renewable fuels. The company's strategic vision is to replace a barrel of crude with a pound of sugar derived from waste for the manufacture of everything from the fuel we put in our cars to the plastics and fabrics we use in our everyday lives. Stephen J. Gatto serves as CEO and Chairman.  
Bryson Joins Digitalsmiths as Senior V.P.
Research Triangle Park-based Digitalsmiths Digitalsmiths has appointed Robert Bryson as Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development. Before joining Digitalsmiths, Bryson was senior vice president of sales and business development at Move Networks, where he led all sales and business development as well as the commercial deals and strategic relationships with Disney Media Networks, Disney ABC Television Group, ESPN Media Networks, Fox Interactive Media, My Space, Fox Broadcasting, TheCW Network, Warner Brothers, and Televisa. Previously, he served as SVP of sales and marketing for Knowledge Universe and I-Link, and as SVP of business development for Media Station. He also held positions with Novell and IBM Rolm Systems. Founded in 1998, Digitalsmiths provides video indexing and digital content publishing, servicing Hollywood studies, web video destinations, media companies and advertisers. The company is funded by Cisco, .406 Ventures, The Aurora Funds and Chrysalis Ventures. Cofounder, Ben Weinberger serves as Chief Executive Officer.  
Sargeant Joins Digitalsmiths as V.P. Marketing
Research Triangle Park-based Digitalsmiths has appointed Melissa Sargeant as Vice President of Marketing. She previously served as a director of product marketing for CA, Inc. (formerly Computer Associates). Prior to CA, Inc., Sargeant was vice president of marketing at Bluefire Security Technologies and has held senior marketing positions at Mercator Software, Guardent and BNX Systems. Founded in 1998, Digitalsmiths provides video indexing and digital content publishing, servicing Hollywood studies, web video destinations, media companies and advertisers. The company is funded by Cisco, .406 Ventures, The Aurora Funds and Chrysalis Ventures. Cofounder, Ben Weinberger serves as Chief Executive Officer.  
Taylor Joins Lantheus as VP, Regulatory Affairs
North Billerica, Mass.-based Lantheus Medical Imaging Inc. has hired Mary Taylor as Vice President Regulatory Affairs. Taylor joins Lantheus after serving as vice president, regulatory affairs for both Tolerx and CuraGen Corporation where she led all regulatory affairs activities company-wide. Prior to Tolerx and CuraGen, she served as vice president, North American regulatory affairs for Bayer Pharmaceuticals. From 1982 to 2001, Taylor held roles of increasing responsibility within Pfizer Global Research and Development, most recently serving as senior director, Food and Drug Administration liaison, worldwide regulatory affairs. She holds a B.S. in biochemistry from Michigan State University and a M.P.H. from the University of Michigan. Don Kiepert serves as was President and Chief Executive Officer.  
Blueridge Appoints Wojcik VP, Sales
Charlotte, N.C.-based Blueridge Analytics Inc. has hired Al Wojcik as Vice President of Sales. Wojcik was formerly Senior Director of Global Accounts for Autodesk, Inc. Prior to Autodesk, Wojcik held VP positions with PTC in the US and Europe, and was EVP of sales for Engineous Software, which was acquired by Dassault/Simulia. Blueridge Analytics provides optimization software for the land development industry. Its flagship product, SITEOPS, addresses inaccurate, time consuming and expensive land development processes. The software gives land planners and civil engineers the ability to qualify several options, under a user-defined set of parameters, within hours instead of months by delivering multiple site designs, providing the optimal layout, grading and storm water drainage options with accurate cost estimates. SITEOPS is available through an “on-demand,” Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) internet-based delivery model. Mike Detwiler serves as President and CEO.
