George Bobotas has joined Halo Pharmaceutical as Chief Scientific Officer. Dr. Bobotas has been President and Managing Partner of DeMelleBioPharma LLC since 2008. He was employed at Reliant Pharmaceuticals (a wholly owned subsidiary of GlaxoSmithKline plc) for eight years in the position of Vice President, Scientific Affairs. At Reliant, he led teams for the development and commercialization of products with combined marketing penetration of over US$1.00 Billion including Lovaza and Antara among many others. Prior to Reliant, he was the founder and Executive Director of the Covance Center for CNS Research. Earlier in his career, Dr. Bobotas held senior positions at Mylan Laboratories, Somerset Pharmaceuticals and Forest Laboratories. He is the inventor of 24 patents and patent applications. Dr. Bobotas received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the City University of New York. He has also received graduate training in Industrial Pharmacy and Physical Chemistry. He is a member of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, American College of Clinical Pharmacology and American Society for Experimental Neurotherapeutics. Chris Selland has joined Andover, Mass.-based JAZD Markets as Vice President of Industry Marketing & Business Development. Most recently, Selland served as VP of Marketing & Business Development at EasyLobby, Inc., and prior to that as VP of Business Development at SoundBite Communications (NASDAQ:SDBT). Earlier in his career, he has held senior business development, marketing & sales positions at eSupportNow, the Yankee Group (acquired by Reuters), Primix Solutions, ON Technology (acquired by Symantec), Access Technology (acquired by Computer Associates) and Ingersoll-Rand. He has previously collaborated with JAZD founder Jamie Bedard at the Aberdeen Group (acquired by Harte-Hanks) where he served as Vice President of Sell-Side Research. Selland joined Aberdeen after the company acquired Reservoir Partners LP, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) advisory firm which Selland founded in 2001. Selland has an M.B.A. in Economics and International Business from New York University’s Stern School of Business, and a B.S. in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering from Cornell University. JAZD Markets combines B2B directory placement, contextual display advertising, lead generation and social media marketing into a “Marketing-as-a-Service” (MaaS) platform. David Southwick has joined Andover, Mass.-based JAZD Markets as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service. He has previously collaborated with JAZD founder Jamie Bedard at the Aberdeen Group (acquired by Harte-Hanks) where he served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Sales. Southwick joined Aberdeen after building high performance sales teams at both Watch IT and Forrester Research. Southwick has a B.A. in Advertising from the University of Maine. Scherer comes to CheckM8 from Tremor Media, where he had been Vice President of Publisher Relations since 2006 and managed the growth of the publisher technology sales and operations teams, managed partner relations and led the market introduction of the Tremor Media publisher technology platform. Before Tremor Media, Scherer headed global sales for On2 Technologies in the mobile and device markets and was a Solutions Executive with the M&E group at AT&T Digital Media where he worked with leading publishers and agencies such as Comedy Central, Disney and the Omnicom Group. Scherer served as a subject matter expert for the Institute of Media and Entertainment and started his career with CNN and Weather.com as part of the teams that introduced their first multimedia platforms and product offerings.
